Warm water, consistent swell, empty line-ups. If you can choose, choose autumn.
WHY AUTUMN WINS
The Atlantic starts producing real swell while the water is still warm from summer, and the crowds are gone. Progress is fastest in these weeks.
NOVEMBER TO FEBRUARY
Big Atlantic swells, 4/3 wetsuits and powerful conditions. We still find protected spots for beginners, but expect a serious ocean.
MARCH · APRIL · MAY
Consistent swell, few tourists and lower prices. Water is cold but the waves are as good as autumn. The underrated season.
